Work on Oelwein's viaduct, on West Charles Street, is apparently on schedule.

Crews are reconstructing the viaduct, to make it ready for more railroad traffic overhead. Transco Railway is expanding on the northwest side of town, and will be using the tracks more often, to service rail cars.

Construction on the viaduct has closed down the main thoroughfare (Charles Street) on the west side of town, with traffic being detoured on east-west streets on the south side of the city.

Oelwein City officials noted today (Monday, June 27), that work on the project is running on time, and should be finished by mid-July, in about 2 weeks.
