With two weeks of the 2014 high school football season complete, most teams are preparing for their district openers.

Twelve area teams remain unbeaten heading into Friday night's games, including 5th-ranked Waverly-Shell Rock and 4th-rated West Delaware. The Go-Hawks host the Hawks in Waverly this week in a marquee match-up for supremacy in Class-3A District 3.

Also off to a strong start are AGWSR, BCLUW, Center Point-Urbana, Clarksville, Don Bosco, Janesville, New Hampton, North Fayette Valley, South Winneshiek and Sumner-Fredericksburg – all of which are 2-0. North Fayette Valley travels to Center Point-Urbana this week, so one of those teams is guaranteed its first loss.

Eight area teams are seeking their victory of 2014 – Dunkerton, Grundy Center, Iowa Falls-Alden, Oelwein, West Central of Maynard, and all three Waterloo squads – Columbus Catholic, East and West. Dunkerton, Columbus, Iowa Falls-Alden, West Central, and West will look for that success on the road. East is hoping that Dubuque Hempstead doesn't spoil the Trojans' Homecoming at Memorial Stadium in Waterloo.
