Waverly-Shell Rock Wins NEIC Conference Wrestling Tournament

The Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks topped all team during the Northeast Iowa Conference Conference Wrestling Tournament on January 31, 2015.

The number 10 ranked (ThePredicamnet.com) Go-Hawks earned a team high 200.0 points to earn the championship. Crestwood edged New Hampton by a half-point for second (175.5 to 175.0). Charles City (173.5) was fourth, and Decorah (161.0) rounded out the Top 5.

Michael Millage (Crestwood, 33-1) beat Noah Fye (New Hampton, 37-2) for the 106# Championship winning 5-1.

Connor Cleveland (New Hampton, 40-2) upset number 6 ranked Austin Yant (Waverly-Shell Rock, 34-13) for the 113# Championship, 7-3.

During the 120# Championship Match, Brennon Ryan (Oelwein, 40-7) defeated Brandon Mayer (Crestwood, 35-2), 4-3.

Devin Stortz (Decorah, 26-9) claimed the 126# championship beating Keegan Tenge (New Hampton, 30-13) winning Dec 5-3.

Austin Staudt (Charles City, 33-6) earned the championship over Nate Sands (Waverly-Shell Rock, 41-6) for the 132# Championship (SV-1 5-3).

At 138#, Maxwell Forsyth (Charles City, 27-10) scored a major decision over Ryan Gorman (New Hampton, 30-12), 8-0.

Tyler Thomas (Crestwood, 35-2) upset the number 8 wrestler in the state Zack Wagenhoffer (Waverly-Shell Rock, 33-15) for the 145# Championship, 7-1.

The 152# Championship match featured number 9 ranked Seth Walker (Waverly-Shell Rock, 31-10) and Cole Stanford (Oelwein, 36-12). Walker won with a major decision, 10-2.

The number 2 wrestler in the state Bryce Steiert (Waverly-Shell Rock, 44-1) took the 160# Championship by technical fall Alec Fjelstul (Decorah, 31-4) (TF-1.5 4:26 (24-9)).

Austin Duffy (Oelwein, 34-12) won the 170# Championship match defeating Trevor Byram (Waverly-Shell Rock, 25-16), 5-3.

At 195#, Zach Lamphere (Oelwein, 44-1) beat Jamir Moore (Waverly-Shell Rock, 12-3), for the championship (SV-1 6-4).

Travis McMillan (Oelwein, 41-1) defeated Aaron Maloy (Charles City, 29-5) for the 220# Championship, 5-2.

During the 285# Championship match, Carter Zidlicky (Decorah, 19-9) won by fall over Brody Tupy (Charles City, 24-12) to score the championship (Fall 5:49).
