A Cedar Valley non-profit organization has received some financial support from a Waterloo auto dealership.

Rydell Chevrolet recently made a cash donation to Retrieving Freedom, Inc., a Waverly-based non-profit group that trains service dogs for placement with area veterans, children with autism, and adults and children with diabetes.

The dealership held its seventh annual Rydell Car Show Benefit in July and gave all the proceeds from t-shirt sales and vehicle registrations to Retrieving Freedom, Inc. During the show, Tama County Pork Producers provided grilled pork sandwiches and also donated the money raised to the organization. Monetary gifts were also made by three Waterloo-area businesses: Lincoln Savings Bank, PDCM and Bank Iowa.

In all, the fund-raiser generated $7,265 for Retrieving Freedom, Inc. Officials at Rydell Chevrolet presented a check to the non-profit group on Sept. 25, 2015.

“Retrieving Freedom is an amazing cause that we are proud to support,” said Matt Halbur, General Manager of Rydell Chevrolet. “I have seen first-hand how this organization changes the lives of veterans with PTSD and children with Autism. I am thrilled that our dealership has been able to give back to the community in this way.”
