Waterloo police officers involved in a weapons investigation took four people into custody Friday night (April 17, 2015).

The arrests were made at 520 Elm Street, which has been the site of multiple shooting and weapons investigations.

According to Police Sergeant Matt McGeough, officers approached a group of people loitering in front of the home around 9:30 p.m. Upon making contact, William Rashad Burt, 20, ran into the house and slammed the door, while Kristopher Darquel Spates, Jr., 20, fled on foot down the street.

Officers pursued Spates and took him into custody a short time later. He was charged with a felony for interference with officials acts involving a firearm in addition to carrying weapons.

McGeogh said while fleeing police, Spates discarded a .380 semi-automatic handgun. Officers recovered the weapon.

At the house, Burt was taken into custody for interference with official acts. Selina White, 40, was arrested for failure to disperse and interference with official acts and a juvenile was taken into custody for a pick-up order during the incident.

All four suspects were booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
