Waterloo Regional Airport Adding Extra Flight During Holiday Season

The Waterloo Regional Airport is making it easier for local travelers to fly out of the Cedar Valley during the holiday season. An extra Saturday flight is temporarily being added to the weekend schedule.

American Airlines will operate a second flight out of Waterloo to Chicago O'Hare International Airport on consecutive Saturdays starting December 20th and ending January 3rd. Flight 3423 will depart Waterloo at 3:05 pm.

"As we approach the Christmas and the New Year holidays, it's great to have an additional flight to accomodate our holiday season passengers," said Keith Kaspari, airport director.

According to Kaspari, the extra flight, combined with the recent change from the 44-seat Embraer Regional Jet to the larger 50-seat Regional Jet, will allow more local residents to make their holiday travel plans from Waterloo Regional Airport.

"With continued strong demand for air service from Waterloo, I hope that American will continue to look at Waterloo as an ideal airport location to add frequency to Chicago and their now expanded route network due to the merger between American and USAir," Kaspari said. "Providing additional connectivity to Chicago and also hundreds of connections to desitinations throughout American's extensive domestic and international network of cities is indeed welcome."

The Waterloo Regional Airport already offers two daily departures to Chicago Sunday through Friday, along with one on Saturday. There's also an afternoon flight arriving daily from Chicago, and an evening flight Sunday through Friday.
