A Waterloo motorcyclist is seriously injured after crashing into a deer over the weekend.

Just before 8:30pm Saturday (June 25), the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of a traffic accident on Highway 18 and "F" Avenue, West of Clermont.

Investigating deputies found that 59 year old Thomas Lorenz of Waterloo was driving his motorcycle west on Highway 18, when he was struck by a deer that ran out from a ditch.

Lorenz was taken by Clermont Ambulance to Palmer Hospital in West Union, to be treated for serious injuries. There was no word on his condition.

His motorcycle, a 1978 BMW, was totaled.
