Waterloo Boy Hit By Pickup While Crossing City Street

A 7-year-old boy is hospitalized with potential life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pickup in Waterloo late Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 18, 2016).

The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. in the 600 block of W. 11th St., near the intersection with South St. According to police, the boy stepped in front of the northbound vehicle as he was walking to a friend's house across the street.

Police said the boy suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo before being flown to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The accident remains under investigation by Waterloo police.
