The Waterloo Black Hawks roster includes some of the most talented young hockey players from across the country and around the world…young players who still need a place to eat, sleep, and be kids after they arrive in the Cedar Valley.

At 5:00 PM on Monday, August 17th, the Black Hawks are hosting an informational meeting in the team offices at Young Arena for families interested in hosting players during the 2015/16 hockey season. Housing Coordinator Staci Cirksena, other current housing parents, and Waterloo coaches will be on hand to answer questions about housing policies and the billet process.

“The relationships housing families and players form are priceless. It’s really like having another kid in the family,” said Cirksena. “I hope anyone who is interested will come out on August 17th, ask a lot of questions, weigh the benefits and responsibilities, and really see if this is something which is right for them.”

Housing families provide a foundation for players during their time in the community, including lodging, food, and a healthy environment for unwinding away from the rink. Benefits for the host family include a stipend, season ticket discount, and special pricing at Party Town Outfitters.
