Police continue to investigate a deadly assault that occurred in Waterloo early Friday morning (March 20, 2015).

Authorities have identified the victim as Roosevelt Aldridge, 50. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted today by the state medical examiner.

According to Waterloo police, officers responded to a report of an assault at 1607 Randolph Street around 4:30 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they learned that Aldridge had sustained a stab wound.

Aldridge was transported to Covenant Medical Center by Waterloo Fire Rescue. He was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later, police said.

According to investigators, the parties involved in the incident knew one another and have been identified. No arrests have been made.

Waterloo Police Lieutenant Greg Fangmam said no further information will be released until after the completion of the autopsy.
