Washburn Business Burns

A Washburn business has been destroyed by a fire early this (Monday) morning.

Firefighters were called out at about 12:30am to the Anemone's Clowns and Coral Fish Shop on Laporte Road in Washburn. The business is a fish supply shop, as well as a gas station. Firecrews found the business engulfed.

Fire departments from Gilbertville, Hudson, Evansdale, Raymond and Laporte City responded, but could not save the business.

No Injuries were reported, however, four nearby residences were evacuated as a precaution. Some electrical lines that were attached to the back of the building had melted and snapped off due to the blaze.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and dollar figure on the damage was not released.
