The Wartburg Knights women's basketball team lost the Luther Norse in the IIAC Tournament Championship game by a score of 61-53 on February 28, 2015.

An 11-2 scoring run gave the Norse a 13-4 lead with 11 minutes left in the first half. Wartburg hurt themselves with eight turnovers during that first nine minute stretch to start the game.

Wartburg battled back to bring the score within 17-15 after a freshman Morgan Neuendorf (Shell Rock) three pointer. Luther answered with a Meagan Koepnick basket and one.

The two teams traded free throws and baskets before a 9-2 Luther run to end the half that was concluded by a Koepnick driving lay-up as time expired. The score at the half was 31-22 in favor of the Norse.

In the second half, the Knights fought back to take a 40-37 lead with 13:45 left in the game following two freshman Miranda Murphy lay-ups, one being an and one. Wartburg then turned the ball over on three straight possessions and a Luther 5-0 run gave the Norse a 42-40 lead.

Senior Mary Brown's (Spirit Lake) second rebound on a missed free throw led to a junior Kailey Kladivo (Traer) lay-up and two free throws from senior Holly Halstead (Hudson) gave the Knights a 49-45 lead with eight minutes left in the game. Luther answered with a 4-0 run, including a Moran Lonning three pointer, to tie the game at 49 with six minutes remaining.

The game's most important stretch came when Lonning hit a three pointer followed by a Wartburg turnover, which led to two Luther free throws. Lonning made a mid-rand jumper a minute later to give the Norse a 58-53 lead.

Luther finished the game on a 12-0 scoring run and Wartburg went scoreless in the last four minutes of the game. Kladivo led the Knights with 17 points and nine rebounds. Wartburg finished with 23 turnovers compared to Luther's 10.
