The flooded Wapsipinicon River is slowly starting to fall back into it's banks in Northeast Iowa.

According to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Highway 150 South in Independence, which had been closed due to water over the road, is now open to traffic.

Also, the Buchanan County Secondary Road Crews are working to survey and eventually open other roads that had been closed throughout the county.

Officials ask that residents and motorists be patient with the progress.

The Wapsipinicon River crested on Sunday in Independence, and is in the process of receding.
