A central Iowa man is in the Black Hawk County jail on multiple charges following a theft investigation in the Cedar Valley.

Senad Traljesic, 32, of Waukee, is acccused of using bogus checks to buy items at two businesses in Elk Run Heights in late August and early September. Sheriff's officials say Traljesic also bought merchandise with a fake check at a business in Jesup.

On Wednesday (September 24, 2014), Black Hawk County sheriff's officials received a report from a Waterloo business that a person had attempted to buy tires with a bogus check.

Deputies then executed a search warrant to look for evidence at a local hotel. According to sheriff's officials, deputies apprehended a man who jumped from a second-floor window as they approached. The search of a room at the motel turned up evidence of bogus checks.

Traljesic was taken into custody and charged with two counts of second-degree theft and forgery. He's also charged with second-degree theft on an outstanding warrant issued by Evansdale police.

Sheriff's officials say a computer check revealed that Traljesic is wanted for second-degree theft charges in Jesup. Mason City authorities also had warrants for his arrest on theft and forgery charges (two counts each) in addtion to two counts of driving with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle without a CDL certification.

Traljesic is also wanted by Des Moines police for first-degree theft, failure to appear in court on a third-degree theft charge, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Black Hawk County authorities say that Traljesic is also a person of interest in a case in Kansas City, Missouri.
