Voters in the Oelwein Community School district will be going to the polls Tuesday (April 5) to decide on renewing a local option sales tax.
The special election is for a renewal of the Secure Advanced Vision for Education, or "SAVE" revenue purpose statement. The funds are from sales tax revenue from all over the state, and not an increase in property or income taxes.

The district already has such a local option sales tax in place, but it will expire in the fall; if voters approve it tomorrow (Tuesday), the revenue will continue through 2029.

Revenue from the SAVE revenue purpose statement is used for infrastructure improvements at the school.

Polls will be open Tuesday in Oelwein, at the Community Plaza, and in Hazleton and Stanley, from noon to 8pm.
