UPDATE: Names Released In Fatal Floyd County Crash

Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal Floyd County crash as a 40-year-old man from Greene.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Troy Reams died when the car he was driving struck the back of a semi tractor-trailer outside the town of Floyd around 5:30 AM on Wednesday (Dec. 19, 2018). Reams was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 18/U.S. Highway 218 at Quarry Road, a dangerous intersection along the "Avenue of the Saints" that's been the site of several serious crashes in the past. The Iowa State Patrol said the car, traveling eastbound/southbound, rear-ended the semi.

Authorities identified the semi driver as Stasys Sabaliauskis, 58, of Burbank, Ill. He escaped being injured in the crash, officials said.
