The Iowa State Medical Examiner has positively identified a body found near Plainfield just over two months ago.

The remains of Cloris Mehmen were found on Oct. 19, 2016, Bremer County Emergency Management officials confirmed Wednesday. A local farmer discovered her body while harvesting corn.

Authorities say the remains were approximately half a mile from Mehmen’s residence. She was reported missing in July.

Public safety officials and hundreds of volunteers combed fields, wooded areas, and waterways around Plainfield in an effort to find her. The exhaustive search turned up no clues to her whereabouts.
