The University of Northern Iowa Panthers volleyball team had one win and one lost this weekend while on the road.

On Friday, October 23, 2015, The Panthers traveled to Evansville. UNI ran its win-streak to four in a row with a victory over the Purple Aces at the Carson Center. UNI won by set scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-12.

UNI (13-10 overall, 7-3 MVC) won its third straight 3-0 sweep in Missouri Valley Conference action and extended its consecutive sets won streak to 10 in a row. It marks the first time since the 2013 season that UNI has swept three consecutive MVC matches.

UNI tied a season-high with 13 team blocks in the victory. UNI has recorded double-figure block totals in six matches this season. Piper Thomas led the way with six blocks, while Held added a career-high four blocks. Kayla Haneline also added four blocks for the Panthers. Haneline and Held tied for team-high honors with 10 kills. Held notched her sixth career double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Kendyl Sorge posted a team-high 14 digs. Heather Hook added 33 assists, five digs and two blocks.

On Saturday night, Northern Iowa made their way to Southern Illinois. The Salukis snapped the UNI's volleyball squad's four-match win streak with a 3-1 triumph at Davies Gym on Saturday. SIU won by set scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 25-17.

SIU improved to 16-7 overall and 7-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. UNI fell to 13-11 overall and 7-4 in the league.

Amie Held recorded her seventh double-double of her career with 14 kills and 13 digs. Bri Weber added 13 kills and nine digs. Piper Thomas contributed with 12 kills (.435 hitting percentage). Heather Hook posted a match-high 48 assists.

UNI will be back at home this Friday and Saturday with matches against Illinois State and Indiana State in the McLeod Center. Both matches will begin at 7:00 PM.
