When the UNI volleyball team hosted Iowa State last season, a record crowd showed up to see the match at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls. The Panthers are hoping to set another arena attendance mark tonight (Wednesday, September 24, 2014).

UNI is hosting the annual in-state series for a second-straight season, due to a scheduling conflict in Ames. When the teams played in 2013, the match brought 6,621 fans to the McLeod Center.

"We'd love to break that attendance record again," UNI Coach Bobbi Petersen said. "I know our team is looking forward to that match."

UNI is doing what it can to fill the arena. School administrators have lowered the ticket price to $1 in an effort to attract a large crowd.

Tonight marks the 52nd meeting between the Panthers and Iowa State. UNI leads the all-time series 26-25. The Cyclones have won five of the last six meetings, including last year's five-setter in Cedar Falls.

The Panthers enter tonight's showdown on a five match win streak. They are 7-5 overall.

Iowa State is 6-3 overall, with the losses coming to some of the top team’s in the country. The Cyclones three defeats came against Stanford (currently ranked No. 1), Florida State (currently rated sixth) and Minnesota (ranked 17th).
