In a few short weeks, Northeast Iowa residents will be able to benefit from a popular transportation service, like much of the rest of the nation.

On March 31st, Uber will be made available in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Dubuque.

The online "taxi" service is summoned by your smartphone with an Uber application.

According to company officials, ride requests are filled in a matter of minutes.

Local drivers using their own vehicles will also be employed on a part-time basis to transport passengers.

The ride-sharing service is currently available in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Des Moines, Ames and the Quad Cities.
