U.S. Highway 20 motorists can expect to encounter lane closures in eastern Black Hawk County starting Monday (April 24, 2017).

Weather permitting, the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) plans to resume a pavement repair project that was started last year. The construction work will take place on U.S. 20 between Interstate 380 and Buchanan County Road V-65 near Jesup. Lane closures will be required in both directions, IDOT officials said.

According to the IDOT, workers will be adding a final layer of asphalt to the highway's surface and painting pavement markings. Placement of shoulder rock is also part of the project.

IDOT officials estimate the road work will take about two months to complete, if the weather allows. The pavement project is expected to be finished by late June.
