Trace Adkins Debuts New Single, ‘Lit,’ on ‘Fox & Friends’ [Watch]
Trace Adkins’ career has already spanned more than two decades, but he’s not ready to hang up his cowboy hat just yet. The artist debuted his new single "Lit" during the All-American Summer Concert Series on Fox & Friends on Friday (July 1). Fans in the audience loved it from the first note, bobbing their heads to the gritty, funky hook and loving his classic baritone voice, sounding just as good as ever.
The country vet donned an unassuming look with jeans and black tee, complete with his signature black hat, hair pulled back under the brim. The catchy, rock-infused chorus had everyone moving to the flirty love song as Adkins smiled and performed his heart out.
Adkins recently signed to BBR Music Group's new imprint Wheelhouse Records, releasing his first single with the group, "Jesus and Jones," in January. He says the new record on which the son, and "Lit" will appear is very personal, reflecting on a lot of the experiences he’s had over the past couple of years, including an altercation with an Adkins impersonator, a trip to rehab and a divorce from wife Rhonda.
“I’ve had plenty of time to document some of the trials that I’ve been through … might as well sing about them,” he said in 2015. “It seems to help a bit.”
Adkins says even though no one had asked for a record yet, he’d been working on this one for a while before joining Wheelhouse.
“I’ve been working on a new record for the last couple of years now. I figured somebody would want it when I got through with it!” he says with a laugh. “I’m really glad I ended up where I’m at … it seems like a perfect fit. Everybody that I’ve met that works there, and all the artists on the label … it’s a good place.”
The album does not yet have a release date. Adkins recently performed at Country Jam in Colorado and also recently received the Dwight D. Eisenhower award for his longstanding support and advocacy of America's troops.
