The Vegas Golden Knights Emotional Home Opener
This is the expansion season of the Vegas Golden Knights NHL team. They honored the victims of the Route 91 shooting before the game.
This is the first professional sports team to be in Las Vegas until they will be joined by the NFL’s Oakland Raiders in either 2019 or 2020. The Vegas Golden Knights honored first responders and the 58 victims of the Route 91 shooting with a 58 second moment of silence before their home opener on October 10th.
The Vegas Golden Knights said that they wanted to help heal the city and began to uphold their promise by netting 4 goals in the first 10 minutes and 42 seconds on their way to a 5-2 emotional win.
The Golden Knights play at T-Mobile Arena but took down all the advertisements along the boards and replaced them with signs that read, “Vegas Strong” and “#vegasstrong”.
The Vegas Golden Knights’ closest games to The Cedar Valley are when they play in Minnesota on Thursday, November 30th and when they play in Chicago on Friday, January 5th.
