A Sumner teen has sustained serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident in rural Fayette County.

Acording to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, it happened shortly after 9pm last Thursday, at the intersection of Highway 93 and "X" Avenue, just east of Sumner.

A pickup driven by 17 year old Destiny Clark was westbound on Highway 93, when it went off the road. Clark overcorrected, causing the pickup to roll.

Clark was taken by ambulance to Allen Hospital in Waterloo, with serious injuries. The truck was totaled.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Sumner Police Department, Sumner Fire, and Sumner First Responders. The accident remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
