Scoring at least twice in every period on Friday, January 16, 2015, the Sioux Falls Stampede pulled away from the Waterloo Black Hawks for a 7-3 win at Sanford Premier Center.

The matchup was scoreless for more than half of the first period, until Logan O’Connor slipped a shot from the left boards inside the short-side post at 12:04. Sioux Falls built their lead at 17:40, when Troy Loggins capped a three-on-one rush by finishing a feed from Dakota Joshua.

In the second period, the teams took turns scoring. Moments after a power play ended, Tyler Sheehy lifted a chance under the crossbar from close range at 6:58. Sioux Falls reestablished their two-goal lead at 11:13 when Dillon Eichstadt swiped a clearing attempt and fired a shot to the stick side of Trevor Gorsuch.

Waterloo drew back within one goal at 13:58 as Tom Novak scored from the left hashmark. The count remained 3-2 through a Stampede power play, but Lawton Courtnall struck to push the home team farther ahead, putting back his own rebound in transition at 17:21.

In the third, the Herd pulled away; Eichstadt beat Kris Carlson from the left circle at 4:44. A turnover allowed Cooper Marody to make it 6-2 at 12:18. While shorthanded less than two minutes later, John Wiitala temporarily stemmed the tide, scoring on a shorthanded breakaway. However, Loggins added a final Stampede goal at 17:13.
