The Wichita State University Shockers posted a 3-0 sweep over the University of Northern Iowa Panthers on Friday night in the McLeod Center. Wichita State won by set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-22.

It marked only the third time in the series between the two schools that Wichita State scored a sweep in Cedar Falls. The Shockers tallied 3-0 wins in Cedar Falls in 2004 and 2008.

Freshman Bri Weber (Dike-New Hartford) collected her team-leading 13th double-double with 12 kills and 18 digs. Freshman (Janesville) libero Kendyl Sorge tied a career-high with 19 digs.

After dropping the first set, UNI looked to rally in the second set and even the match. The Panthers trailed 22-17 but reeled off six straight points to take a 23-22 lead. Following a timeout from WSU head coach Chris Lamb, the Shockers scored the final three points of the second stanza to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Panthers held a 17-14 lead in the third set, only to see the Shockers score three straight and tie the set at 17-17. The Shockers would gain a 23-22 late in the set and was able to score the final two points of the set following a Panther timeout.

UNI will be back in action Saturday at 7:00 PM. against the Missouri Valley Conference foe Missouri State Bears. Saturday night mark a pink night, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in the McLeod Center and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match.
