An Oelwein man has been arrested by the Fayette County Sheriff on assault and other charges. At about 1:30am Sunday, the sheriff responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in Oelwein. Following an investigation, 46 year old Pedro Velez of Oelwein was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, domestic abuse assault-3rd offense, and obstruction of emergency communications. Velez was held in the Fayette County jail on $20,000 bond.

Just before 10pm Friday, the Fayette County sheriff was notified of an underage drinking party in Maynard. Responding deputies found a number of people under the age of 21, in possession of an open container of alcohol, and were cited. Those in possession were identified as: 18 year old Ashley Reson of Maynard, 18 year old Michael Seeders of Oelwein, 18 year old Kristin Pingree of Oelwein, 19 year old Riley Brincks of Waucoma, 19 year old Kylie Meaney of Independence, 19 year old Tanner Patterson of Oelwein, 19 year old Kelby Robbins of Waterloo, and 20 year old Nicole Hayek of Maynard. There were also 4 juveniles cited for underage possession, and will be referred to juvenile court: 16 year old Gannon Willie of Randalia, 17 year old Thadeus Warnke of Maynard, 17 year old Dustin Beau of Independence, and 17 year old Chastity Jensen of Oelwein.

On Friday, the Fayette County sheriff was assisted by the Oelwein Police department, with the arrest of 18 year old Aric Quario of Oelwein. Quario was arrested on three warrants for failure to appear in court, with the original charges of criminal mischief 2nd degree, manufacturing with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana. Quario was held in the Fayette County jail on $12,500 bond.

A Clermont man, 56 year old Mark Gingerich, was taken into custody last Wednesday, on a warrant for carrying weapons. He was held in the
Fayette County jail on $1,000 bond.

And a Fayette County deputy discovered a car vs deer accident at about 5:30pm Saturday, near the intersection of Highway 150 and 130th Street, just south of Fayette. 18 year old Austin Kohls of Elgin was driving a van south on 150, when a deer came out onto the road and struck his vehicle. No one was hurt, but there was $4,000 damage.
