Sex Offender Allegedly Harasses Area Woman

Authorities have arrested a Manchester man for allegedly making numerous harassing phone calls to a Fayette County resident, as well as threatening her life.

On Wednesday, the Fayette County Sheriff was notified by a local woman that she was being harassed by Dennis Dean Porter of Manchester. The 53 year old Porter is accused of making over 50 harassing phone calls to the woman, making harassing comments through Facebook numerous times as well as having several Facebook accounts, and also threatened the woman's life.

Authorities discovered Porter was a convicted sex offender, and was required to have his cell phones and internet accounts registered on the sex offender registry, but did not.

Fayette County deputies and Manchester Police located Porter at a residence in Manchester on Thursday, where he was taken into custody, and transported to the Fayette County jail.

Porter is being charged with harassment, third degree.

Porter's probation officer was also notified of the incident, and will provide the Delaware County Sheriff with the registration violation information for their investigation.
