School Announcements – Wednesday, 02/25/2015

With a major winter storm moving across Iowa, some school districts in the Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa are dismissing classes early today (Wednesday, February 25, 2015).

A winter storm warning is posted for a large part of Iowa until 3 a.m. Thursday. Area Counties under the warning include: Black Hawk, Benton, Buchanan, Butler, Franklin, Grundy, Hardin, Marshall and Tama. A winter weather advisory is also posted until 6 a.m. Thursday for the following counties: Bremer, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Fayette and Floyd. Forecasters are predicting 3-6" of snow in the warning area over the next several hours, with some isolated higher amounts possible.

Due to the weather, the following school districts are dismissing classes early today:

• AEA 267 - Bremwood Center: Dismissing at 11:30 a.m.
• AEA 267 - River Hills Center: Dismissing at 12:30 p.m.
• AGWSR: Closing at 10:30 a.m.; All activities cancelled.
• Aplington Head Start: Closing at 10:45 a.m.
• Aplington-Parkersburg: Dismissing at 10:45 a.m.; No BASC or evening activities.
• BCLUW: Closing at 12:45 p.m.
• Bosco System: Dismissing at 12:15 p.m.
• Cedar Falls: Secondary schools dismissing at 12:30 p.m.; elementaries at 1:50 p.m.
• Center Point-Urbana: Closing at 12:45 p.m.
• Denver: Dismissing at 12:30 p.m.
• Dike-New Hartford: Dismissing at 11:40 a.m.
• Dunkerton: Closing at 1:00 p.m.
• East Buchanan: Closing at 1:00 p.m.
• Gladbrook-Reinbeck: Closing at 12:15 p.m.
• Grundy Center: Closing at 11:15 a.m.
• Hawkeye Community College: Closing at noon.
• Independence (& St. John's): Dismissing at 1:00 p.m.; Evening Activities cancelled.
• Janesville: Dismissing at 11:30 a.m.
• Jesup (& St. Athanasius): Dismissing at 1:00 p.m.; After school program until 3:00 p.m.; Evening activities cancelled.
• La Porte City Union: Dismissing at noon. All activities cancelled.
• Nashua-Plainfield: Dismissing at 1:30 p.m.
• North Butler: Shuttle and walkers dismissing at 10:30 a.m.; Buses Run at 11 a.m.; Evening activities cancelled.
• North Tama: Dismissing at noon.
• Tripoli: Dismissing at 12:45 p.m.; No afternoon day care, pre-school or elementary tutoring
• Vinton-Shellsburg: Dismissing 3 hours early; Elementary Parent-Teacher conferences will be held April 1st.
• Wapsie Valley: Dismissing 2 1/2 hours early; No afternoon pre-school.
• Waterloo Christian: Closing at 1:00 p.m.; No afternoon pre-school.
• Waterloo Community: Secondary schools dismissing at 12:15 p.m.; Elementaries at 1:15 p.m.
• Waverly-Shell Rock: Dismissing Early - Shell Rock Elementary at 11:00 a.m.; Waverly elementaries and Middle School at 11:15 a.m.; High School at 11:30 a.m.
• West Central: Dismissing 2 hours early
