Sawed-Off Shotgun and Drug Arrests
Two Northeast Iowa residents have been arrested in separate incidents, by Fayette County Authorities.
Last Thursday, Nov. 13th, the Fayette County sheriff and Oelwein Police conducted a search at property owned by 31 year old Christopher Jelinek of Oelwein. There, they found a 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun with a 13 inch barrel. Under Iowa law, a 12 gauge shotgun must have a barrel of at least 18 inches. Jelinek was arrested on a charge of possession of an offensive weapon.
Last Friday, Nov. 14th, 32 year old Brian Rear of Elgin was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest was made during a traffic stop in Elgin. The Fayette county K-9 assisted in the investigation.
