Sam Hunt insists he’s not dating former Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman, and he didn’t "hook up" with her, either. The “House Party” singer says he’s not sure how the rumor got started, but admits they did talk backstage during the CMA Music Festival in Nashville.

“It was very much fabricated,” Hunt reveals, adding that he didn’t learn about the rumor until a couple of days after the event. He tells Detroit's WYCD-FM deejay Jack Shell he doesn’t like being tabloid fodder.

“It’s not that fun,” Hunt explained during a recent stop. “I didn’t realize you could make up stories like that.” Dorfman also denied the rumor on Twitter:

So, how did it get started? Hunt says he was just hanging out backstage, when ... “there was just a couple of lovely ladies backstage hanging and I just said 'Hello' and started talking and we chatted for a little bit … And we went our separate ways.”

Hunt played the first night of LP Field shows during CMA Music Fest, on June 11. Since then he’s returned to the road with Hunter Hayes and Lady Antebellum. “House Party” is his third single from Montevallo, following the chart-topping “Leave the Night On” and “Take Your Time."
