Repairs to a railroad crossing will require the closure of a busy street in Cedar Falls, starting Monday (May 23, 2016).

The Canadian National (CN) railroad will be reconstructing the train tracks that cross Center Street near the Ice House Museum, just north of W. 1st Street (Iowa Highway 57). In order for the work to be done, a complete closure of Center Street will be required. Cedar Falls city officials said the closer will last five to seven days, weather permitting.

A marked detour will be in place. Traffic will be directed to and from the North Cedar area using U.S. Highway 218/Iowa Highway 27 and Lone Tree Road.
