Remember When Johnny Cash Was on ‘Sesame Street’?

Johnny Cash, the Man in Black, wore blue denim the day he visited Sesame Street during the fifth season of the legendary children’s show. He made a quick fan out of Oscar the Grouch, who really got into his song, “Nasty Dan.”

“There goes my kinda guy,” the trash can dweller says after Cash wishes him well by saying, “Have a rotten day.”

Cash’s performance is one of the legendary guest appearances on Sesame Street. It’s a great memory of the singer, who died on Sept. 12, 2003. Watch this video and enjoy one of the few moments in which Oscar seems truly happy. He just about jumps out of his can when Cash begins to describe Dan’s girlfriend, Nasty Pearl.
