Beck's Taproom Grill at 3295 University Avenue has closed, effective immediately.

Darin Beck, CEO of Barmuda Companies, announced the closure on Monday.

Lark Brewing, which occupied the lower level of the Beck's building, will relocate. According to The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Lark plans to submit a proposal to move into the Public Market space in downtown Waterloo. The Public Market, at 327 W. Third St. on the RiverLoop Expo Plaza, has been empty since September 2016.

"If the proposal is successful, we hope to be moved in time for My Waterloo Days. We have other options that we are ready to pull the trigger on, but we really love the Public Market opportunity," Beck said.

Plans are to expand Lark into a full restaurant with an added tasting room. Beck's--known for its interactive, self-serve "beer wall" concept--opened a second Waterloo restaurant near Crossroads Mall in late 2017. That location will remain open, as well as  the Beck's Taproom inside Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids.
