It was a five-set thriller between two 400-plus win coaches in the McLeod Center on October 10, 2015. In the end, the Northern Iowa Panthers snapped a three-match losing streak.

The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad posted a 3-2 win over the Missouri State Bears on Saturday. UNI won by set scores of 24-26, 25-19, 25-15, 20-25, 15-7. The Panthers improved to 10-10 overall and 4-3 in the MVC, while the Bears dipped to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in the league.

HISTORICAL MOMENTS: The matchup brought a pair of 400-plus match winners in Bobbi Petersen and Melissa Stokes - the first such meeting in the history of the Missouri Valley Conference. The Panthers posted 111 total digs in the contest - tying for the third-highest total in school history.

CEDAR VALLEY SPORTS ALUMS: Four former Cedar Valley high school all stars held earn the win. Freshman libero Kendyl Sorge (Janesville) notched a career-high 33 digs. Freshman Bri Weber (Dike-New Hartford) collected her 14th double-double of the season with 17 kills and 13 digs. Weber also added in a career-high three service aces. Heather Hook (Grundy Center) notched her seventh double-double with 53 assists and 12 digs, and Piper Thomas (Jesup) contributed with 12 kills.

NEXT UP: The UNI Panthers will be back in action next Saturday at 7:00 PM against the Drake Bulldogs in the McLeod Center.
