A power outage in Waterloo left nearly 4,000 customers of Mid-American Energy without electricity earlier today (Friday, April 7, 2017).

According to company spokesman Adam Jacobi, "an issue with a transformer at a sub-station" caused the outage at 5:22 a.m.

Jacobi said the 90-minute outage effected 3,987 customers in the Crossroads Center area of southeast Waterloo. The wide-spread outage impacted residents and businesses between the 2300 block of W. 8th St. (north boundary), 100 block of E. Ridgeway Ave. (west), 900 block of E. San Marnan Dr. (south), and 2800 block of Crossroads Blvd. (east).

According to Jacobi, electricity was restored to the effected customers by 6:48 a.m.
