The principal at Oelwein High School Principal will have a new job in north-central Iowa this summer.

Earlier this week, the Lake Mills Board of Education selected Chad Kohagen as the district's new superintendent. He was selected for the post from a field of four finalists, which also included Tripoli superintendent Troy Heller. According to Lake Mills school officials, 20 people applied for the superintendent's job.

Kohagen was chosen to replace current Lake Mills superintendent Daryl Sherman, who's retiring June 30th after leading the district for 21 years. Kohagen's first day on the job will be July 1st. He'll be paid $120,000 annually.

Kohagen has been Oelwein's principal since 2007 and served as the school's assistant principal/activities director the year prior to being promoted. The Denver High School graduate achieved his undergraduate degree from Upper Iowa University.
