Bring your junk, we want it gone!

Old grills, furniture, mattresses, computers, appliances, batteries, oil and scrap metal may be taken to the municipal parking lot by the old log cabin on Saturday, October 15th between 8AM and Noon. Dumpsters will be on-site for your use to help beautify the city. Take advantage of an excellent opportunity to de-clutter, clean, and rid yourself of junk at no charge. Please call Oelwein City Hall at 319-283-5440 with any questions. [No Televisions, Hazardous Materials, Chemicals or Paint will be accepted].

You may dispose tires, but there will be a fee: Car Tires (without rims) $2, Light Truck Tires $2.75, Large Truck Tires $8.25, Small Farm Tires $18.50, Medium Farm Tires $28.50, Large Farm Tires $38.50 and Extra Large Farm Tires $48.50.

Brush pick-up is scheduled for the following quadrants: Northeast - Monday, October 17th, Northwest - Tuesday, October 18th, Southeast - Wednesday, October 19th & Southwest - Thursday, October 20th.

Fall open burning dates have been set. You may burn vegetation only that grows on your property between 8AM to 9PM starting September 24th through November 5th. Vegetation includes trees, tree trimmings, branches, stumps, brush, weeds, leaves, grass, shrubbery and yard trimmings. You may not burn furniture, finished wood, clothing, lumber, building materials, flammable liquids, etc. All fires shall be constantly attended by a person who shall assume responsibility for the burning and a garden hose connected to a water supply or other approved fire-extinguishing equipment must be readily available at the burning site. See Section 16-80 of the Oelwein City Code for further open burning restrictions.
