A New Mexico man, wanted in Fayette County Iowa for forgery and drug charges, has been arrested.

On Monday, 30 year old Christopher Hale of Los Cruces, New Mexico, was taken into custody by Dallas County authorities, on a Fayette county warrant for Forgery, interference with official acts, and possession of marijuana.

The charges stem from a September 2009, arrest, when Hale was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy; he was found to be in possession of marijuana.

During the traffic stop, Hale used a false name; he was arrested and taken to jail on the charge of possession of controlled substance. While in jail, he allegedly forged court documents using the same false name, and was released after posting a $1000.00 bond.

In December of 2009 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received information that Hale was not the person he claimed to be, and an investigation was initiated, with the assistance of the FBI and New Mexico authorities.

Hale was positively identified and a warrant was issued.

He is now being held in the Fayette County jail on $25,000.00 bond.
