New Fire Chief to be Named in Oelwein

One Northeast Iowa community will be getting a new fire chief very soon.

Current longtime Oelwein Fire Chief Wallace Rundle will be retiring, stepping down from his post on June 30th.

In his place, the city of Oelwein will be making an appointment to fill that position; at tonight's regular meeting, Mayor Peggy Sherrets will recommend to the council to hire Mike Hillman as Oelwein's next fire chief.

Hillman has the recommendation of volunteer firefighters, and has passed his civil service exam.
