Two Northeast Iowa teenagers have now been charged with breaking into an elementary school.

After a two-week investigation, on Tuesday the Fayette County Sheriff's office filed charges against 15 year old Alexander Jones and 15 year old Colton Edwards, both of Hawkeye.

The two are accused of breaking into the Hawkeye Elementary school, located on East Burger Street in Hawkeye, in August.

The teens allegedly entered the school building without permission and damaged computers and light fixtures, and burned materials in the computer lab.

Both Jones and Edwards are being referred to juvenile authorities on charges of second degree criminal mischief, third degree arson, and trespassing.
