A Northeast Iowa girl has died in a traffic accident in south-central Minnesota.

The accident happened at about 5pm Thursday, at a rural intersection near Sleepy Eye, which is near Mankato, southwest of Minneapolis.

A westbound car driven by 22 year old Maria Rodriguez-Becerra of New Hampton, collided with a northbound car driven by 24 year old Mary Johnson of Fairfax, Minnesota.

A passenger in the first car, 14 year old Daisy Rodriguez of New Hampton, died in the accident. The driver had serious injuries. Another passenger, 17 year old Yesenia Rodriguez of New Hampton, sustained non-life threatening injuries. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the three are related.

The other driver, from Fairfax, Minnesota, also had non-life threatening injuries.
