Vehicle Rams Into Northeast Iowa Post Office Building

The Winthrop Post Office was damaged when a vehicle struck the building on Friday (March 31, 2017).

Buchanan County sheriff's deputies responded to the crash. Authorities said they learned that Linda Peterson of Winthrop was pulling her car into a parking lot outside the post office, at 235 Madison St., when she accelerated into the building.

According to sheriff's officials, the mishap appears to be accidental. No charges have been filed.

No injuries were reported.
