NE Iowa Crash Involves a Deer and 2 Vehicles

Two people have been injured, when a vehicle collided with a deer, then hit another vehicle.

The accident happened just before 6pm Thursday, north of Clermont in Fayette County, on Highway 18.

A southbound van driven by 30 year old Lacey Nagel of Waukon struck a deer that entered the roadway; her van then went into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a sport utility vehicle driven by 58 year old Susan Roberts of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Nagel was taken to the West Union hospital for treatment; Roberts had to be air-cared to Gunderson-Lutheran hospital in LaCrosse. A condition report was not available.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, both motorists were wearing seatbelts, which helped save their lives.

Troopers were assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff, Postville Police, Fayette Police, and Clermont Fire/EMS.
