The City of Oelwein may have a new council member by Monday night.

The regular meeting of the Oelwein city council is this Monday, beginning at 6pm. On the agenda, is a resolution to fill a vacancy for First Ward councilperson by appointment. The vacancy was created when Ted Malget resigned the post on July 27th. Malget noted that he is quitting due to a conflict with the current city administration.

The seat could be filled either by special election or appointment; the council chose appointment.

The council has decided to appoint Matt Weber as the new 1st Ward Council representative.

If the council approves the resolution, Weber will then be sworn into office Monday night.
