Voters in the Cedar Valley have a choice, when it comes to filling the mayor's seats in Waterloo and Cedar Falls.

Polls for the municipal election opened at 7am today, and will close at 8pm.

In Cedar Falls, there are three candidates vying for the mayor's post: longtime incumbent Mayor Jon Crews, Cedar Falls school board member Jim Brown, and retired railroad management employee Dave Halterman.

In Waterloo, Mayor Buck Clark has decided not to run for re-election for a fourth term. But voters have a choice of five candidates: former Mayor Tim Hurley, Hawkeye Community College administrator and councilman Quentin Hart, former Waterloo Fire Chief Frank Magsamen, accountant Leah Morrison, and local businessman Wayne Nathem.

There are also several races for council positions.
