A Hawkeye man has been arrested on numerous charges, after he allegedly attacked a woman, while armed with a hammer.

At around 4:30pm Monday, the Fayette County Sheriff got a 911 call, concerning an assault at a residence on "V" Avenue near Hawkeye.

An investigation indicated that 43 year old Christopher Gruver of Hawkeye drove to the residence, armed with a claw hammer, and attacked a woman. He was disarmed by several by-standers, then fled the scene.

Later in the evening, Gruver was arrested on charges of going armed with intent, stalking, domestic assault, displaying a weapon, serious assault, and driving while his license is suspended.

Gruver also had multiple warrants from Fayette County, on the original charges of theft in the 4th degree and driving while suspended.

Gruver was taken to the Fayette County Jail in West Union, and held until his initial court appearance.
