Eastern Iowa authorities continue to investigate an incident in which a man was found shot dead.

At about 6pm Wednesday (Feb. 1), 911 dispatchers in the Linn County Sheriff's Office received a report of an altercation, and a person being shot, at a residence in rural Coggon.

Emergency responders found a man's body in the yard of the home; the man had apparently been shot.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Investigating officers identified some possible suspects, and after several hours of searching, both witnesses and suspects were detained and taken to the Linn County Sheriff's Office for questioning. At the time, it was reported that one suspect remained at large, but authorities indicate that is not the case.

No charges have been filed yet; more information is expected to be released later today.

The Linn County Sheriff was assisted by K-9 units from the Marion and Cedar Rapids Police Departments, along with the Iowa State Patrol's air wing, which aided in the search for possible suspects.
