A Cedar Falls man is in jail on attempted murder charges in connection with a double stabbing that left two people seriously injured at an apartment complex in the city Monday afternoon (Oct. 17, 2016).

Adam Jacobsen, 28, is accused of repeatedly stabbing Jeffrey Miller, 62, and Denice Bennett, 47, at University Avenue Studios. Police said Miller suffered potential life-threatening injuries in the attack, while Bennett received multiple serious injuries. Both are being treated at different area hospitals.

Officers were called to the apartment complex at 4711 University Ave. around 4:30 p.m. When police arrived, they discovered that two people, who live in separate units, had been stabbed multiple times with a knife in the parking lot. It appears Jacobsen chose the victims at random, investigators said.

Jacobsen, who also lives at the complex, was taken into custody on two counts of attempted murder. He's being held in the Black Hawk County jail.
