Ryan and Brandon Maitland made it a memorable night Sunday at Benton County Speedway. The brothers each reached victory lane in their respective divisions on an exciting night on the quarter-mile on May 3, 2015.

Ryan, in his first full season in the Cassill Motors IMCA Modified division, raced into the lead at the drop of the green with Joe Docekal in tow.

Maitland ran the top groove while Docekal pressured from the bottom.

Meanwhile, Scott Hogan was working through traffic from a third row start and settled into second at the seven lap mark.

Hogan chased Maitland around the top side until he was able to get a run beneath the leader when the frontrunners encountered lapped traffic with four laps to go.

Hogan held the point until he drifted off the top of turn four on the 19th of 20 circuits. That allowed Maitland to resume command to drive to his first career victory in the division. Joe Docekal held off point leader Kyle Brown for second.

Younger brother Brandon Maitland led all 12 laps of the BCS Micro Mod feature to earn the win. He survived a quartet of cautions to race to a comfortable win ahead of Tristan Cordes and point leader Don Erger.

Norman Chesmore started last in the 11-car RonDaVoo Lounge & Deli IMCA Stock Car feature, but spent little time working his way through the field.

Chesmore made his way into the top five in just two laps and challenged Jared Daggett for the lead five laps later. Chesmore ran the low groove for the entirety of the 18-lapper to drive away to victory ahead of Jay Schmidt and Scott Pippert.

Tony Olson drove to his fourth win of the season at as many different tracks in the IMCA Northern SportMod division.

Shawn Ritter and Tyler Soppe split time at the front the 20-lapper while Olson raced from a third row start.

The trio entered a terrific battle for the lead in lapped traffic before the race was stopped for caution on lap seven.

On the restart, Olson went to work on the top side to slip past Soppe for the lead. He then raced the low groove following another pair of stoppages to drive to victory ahead of Matt Petrzelka and Kyle Olson.

Justin Wacha was the winner of a wild IMCA Hobby Stock feature.

Rod Grother and Nathan Ballard each took their turn at the front of the pack until a late restart spoiled Ballard’s chance at three straight wins to start the season.

Carburetor issues left Ballard sluggish on the restarts and allowed Wacha to zip past en route to victory. Ballard and Mike Kimm completed the top three.

Two nights of racing are on tap next week in Vinton. The regular weekly program will be held Sunday, May 10 and the Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds holds its first event of the season at the Benton County Fairgrounds next Tuesday, May 12. IMCA sanctioned Stock Cars, Northern SportMods and Hobby Stocks will join the Modifieds for the midweek special.
